Diversity Champions

AllianceBernstein promotes diversity and inclusion through the various programs and resources it offers to employees. Most recently, in July 2020, the firm’s D&I team launched its Racial Justice and Anti-Racism Library, an internal online platform offering e-learning tools, such as articles about how employees can work to tackle social injustice, links to relevant TED talks and podcasts, and a section dedicated to TV, movies and video clips with educational programming. The idea for the library came out of the Diversity Champions Council that AllianceBernstein created in 2016 to develop and run the company’s D&I strategy, which aims to weave diversity into employees’ day-to-day interactions.

In 2017, a firm survey revealed women and ethnically diverse employees wanted career development training, so AllianceBernstein created its Career Catalyst program, which is a six-month coaching program that pairs female vice presidents and ethnically diverse vice presidents with senior vice presidents. Nearly 60 employees have participated in this program so far.

“We’ve learned that as a firm we need to be flexible and adapt with the changing landscape around us in order to sustain a diverse and inclusive environment,” said Janessa Cox-Irvin, global head of diversity and inclusion at AllianceBernstein.
