Diversity Champions

Nuveen Investments can proudly boast of a long history of integrating diversity and inclusion as a cornerstone of the firms’ combined culture. One flagship program, LEAD (Leadership, Education, Advocacy and Development) is an industry affinity organization that permits Nuveen’s clients, partners and industry peers to lead the dialogue on gender diversity.

“Diversity of thought, people and investments is critical to the future success of our industry, our clients and our own firm. We are committed to driving diversity and promoting an inclusive environment at Nuveen and within the asset management industry, reaffirming the values that Nuveen and our parent TIAA have always shared,” said Jose Minaya, Nuveen CEO and TIAA D&I executive sponsor.

Since the onset of the pandemic, and numerous social injustice events this year, the firm has launched a number of new initiatives, including: the Nuveen Impact Grant in March 2020 to partner with clients to support causes that align with its values; a leadership program called “Be The Change”; and a Business Resource Group for Black/African American associates, with plans for an Asian-American program in the third quarter. Beyond its own doors, Nuveen serves a wide array of D&I organizations: Youth Inc., Robert A. Toigo Foundation, Girls Who Invest and Chicago-All Stars Project.
