At Allianz Life Insurance Co. of North America, diversity and inclusivity have been the focus of the Empowering Diversity in Distribution through Growth and Education group, which is dedicated to empowering and inspiring Allianz employees in the diversity and inclusion space.
Through EDDGE, the firm’s goal is to attract qualified candidates and offer pathways for growth, advancement and inclusive innovation. In 2019, the EDDGE team was tasked with making diversity and inclusion part of the essence of Allianz Life Distribution, which includes the sales and strategic program unit of the company. The team promotes awareness around diversity within Allianz Life’s businesses through initiatives that include a mentorship pilot program, networking events, “coffee talks” with leadership, and with a bi-annual newsletter that highlights diversity and inclusion at the firm.
“Unconscious bias plays a huge role in decision-making,” said Cecilia Stanton Adams, chief diversity and inclusion officer at Allianz Life. “We make sure everyone is given the opportunity to show up as their best selves.” By weaving diversity and inclusion into everything Allianz Life employees do, they are helping create a stronger company.
